On the 10th November 2014, Dr Muslih Mustafa, President of Soran University, along with Dr Nahro Zagros, Vice President for Scientific Affairs, Dr Qais Kakil, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Dr Bangin Awdel, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Dr Hiwa Kurdistani, Administrator for Academic Relations, met a number of the successful teachers who gained their Master’s and Doctorates abroad by taking benefit of the Human Capacity Development Programme (HCDP) of the Kurdistan Regional Government.
Dr Muslih Mustafa congratulated them all and expressed his pleasure at meeting with the successful graduates, who are now lecturers at Soran University. He said that Soran University proudly and eagerly waits to see the results of their endeavours with their teaching. He also focused on the future role of these teachers in building and developing both Soran University and the Kurdistan region; with their confidence and new found abilities they will reach the high expectations anticipated for them.
During his speech Dr Muslih also considered the significance of writing scientific research papers; he mentioned that, by publishing research papers in international peer reviewed journals, our lecturers will participate in building a better world and share their ideas throughout the world.
Dr Muslih's speech was followed by one from Dr Nahro, Vice President of Soran University for Scientific Affairs, who expressed his pleasure in meeting this group of successful lecturers; he spoke about the importance of the HCDP programme and congratulated all the successful students from this programme. He then focused on the scientific aspect of the university by hoping everyone would support the development of the scientific level of Soran University and, through doing this, we will have an active role in developing the scientific system of higher education.
The final part of the meeting was devoted to questions and comments from the audience which were answered in detail by the President and the Vice President.
In conclusion it is stated that there are now more than 200 students from Soran University who are studying MA’s and PhD’s in universities around the world and thereby benefitting from the HCDP programme.
After the meeting, the President was warmly welcomed by students from the Faculty of Arts when he met informally with them, listening and responding to their ideas, notes and questions.
