This department was opened in 2005 and initially was part of the College of Education until 2010, when it was made part of the Faculty of Education; at the moment it is the only department in the School of Physical Education.
Students are accepted once they have completed twelfth grade at school and have an aptitude for sport and an interest in sport theory. Students will partake in training in the sports field and learn teaching and training techniques. After completion of their degree, gradautes will become teachers in schools that include sport in their curriculum.
The aims of this department are to:
- Produce and deliver educational sports teachers for the benefit of schools
- To produce active sports trainers and enthusiastic researchers for sports and for the benefit of the country
