Mr Shoresh Mustafa Guruni, Head of the Biology Department of Soran University's Faculty of Science and a lecturer in the same department, has written a book on First Aid and dedicated to the Peshmerga who are fighting against the Islamic State (IS) terrorists on the frontlines. He made this dedication as a measure of the responsibility he felt that each and every one of us should do the best we can for our nation.
What are the current and future prospects for Iraqi Kurdistan? That’s what audiences at two presentations in Washington, D.C., organized by UCF’s Global Perspectives Office, came to discuss last week. The forums were a product of the partnership between UCF and Soran University, which is located in Iraqi Kurdistan. Specialists from both universities, as well as other experts, contributed to the discussions.
According to the latest edition of Spain-based Webometrics Ranking List, Soran University has maintained its third place in Kurdistan and eleventh place in Iraq. Soran University also took the third place last year.
Kurdish political figures, Mr Muhammad Haji Mahmud, Secretary of the Kurdistan Socialist Democratic Party (KSDP), Mr Saadi Ahmed Pira, Member of Kurdistan Patriotic Union (KUP)'s Politburo, Mr Zirak Kamal, Member of the Kurdistan Communist Party (KCP)'s Central Committee and Mr Ali Tatar, Member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP)'s leadership, visited Soran University on the 7th February 2016 to attend and present seminars in a series of activities launched by Soran University and The Federation of Non-Government Organisations.
