Soran University and the French Institute for Research on the Middle East Agreed to Partnership, Collaboration and an Academic Relationship

On Friday the 15th November 2019, a delegation from Soran University led by his Excellency Dr  Muslih Mustafa, President of Soran University, accompanied by Dr Nahro Zagros, Vice President for Scientific Affairs and Dr. Adel Bakhawan, Head of the Iraqi Sociology Center in Soran University, visited the French Institute for Research on the Middle East (EREMO), and was welcomed by Prof Jan Poal Shanelow, President of the Institute, and An Milet Head of International Relations at the Institute.

Both sides expressed their pleasure at the meeting which was a friendly discussion concerning their institutions and activities. As a result of a fruitful discussion, they decided to cooperate with working partnerships.

In his speech, the President of Soran University suggested that the EREMO collaborates to open courses for Master and PhD students in the fields of research methodology, theories of Political Science and Sociology; this was enthusiastically   accepted by EREMO. The aim of these courses is to prepare a new Kurdish research generation able to present their researches to an acceptable quality.  It was also decided to give a series of conferences and seminars in Erbil and Paris.

EREMO is an institute directly financed and supported by the French Council and has a great impact on decision making on the Middle East. The Institute is also the owner of the Conflionsa magazine, which is twenty nine years old and specializes in the Middle East. As a result of this discussion, the magazine will be available for researchers in Kurdistan.
