Soran University wins two grants from IREX the only university in Iraq

In its most recent achievement to serve more the higher education sector, Soran University as the only university was able to win two grants from the American organization IREX.

This organization that is supported by American embassy for the Iraqi projects. In 2019, it announced a competition (Higher Education Small Grant Program) all over of Iraq. This program supports and helps the academic projects of various Iraqi university and institutes to contribute to the development of higher education in this country.

In a recent development, and among 10 projects from universities in Iraq, Soran University was the only university to win two projects. Aryan Faraidun Abdulqader, a lecturer of Soran University-Computer department, achieved success in this competition and won a grant for the university. His project was entitled (Introducing Transformative Learning Methods and Strategies to Faculty from Soran, Charmo and Mosul Universities). The project introduced a group of new strategic methods of teaching for university teachers in partnership with Charmo, Mosul, and Central Oklahoma university from USA.

The second project was by Muhammed Mahdi Shwani, an employee of Teaching Quality Assurance Directorate of Soran University presidency. The project was entitled (Strengthen Global Citizenship and Leadership Among Kurdistan Youth: Model United Nations 2020). This project by Muhammed Shwani is applied in various countries, and more than 500,000 students meet in various conferences to discuss current hot topics d significant issues that diplomats discuss.

In a letter to the two projects managers, and in addition to congratulating, IREX expressed its pleasure for their success. It also said it is looking forward to seeing the projects start, and cooperation.
