Soran University hold its First Scientific Forum

On Sunday, September 11, 2022, the First Scientific Forum was held at Soran University (SU) on the University Campus in Dilizian.

The forum aimed to showcase works and scientific activities held last year. Higher education, the Bologna process and a number of scientific and academic issues and topics were also discussed. Some measures for the new school year were discussed.

At the beginning of the meeting, AP. Dr. read Sherwan Sharif Qurtas, President of Soran University, gave a speech on university work strategy. He congratulated those involved in scientific work and activities, and said that we should discuss all the tasks that fall upon us.

Afterwards, Prof.Dr. Sirwan Zand, SU President’s assistant for Scientific Affairs, delivered the University's Scientific Forum speech, noting the importance of this forum for the new academic year.

The topics of the Forum were presented at two panel discussions, the first moderated by TA. Ghareeb Ibrahim Suleiman in which Dr. Jamal Ismail Kak Rasul, Dean of the Engineering Faculty, participated with the topic: Philosophy of Higher Education, and Dr. Ali Yusuf Aziz on the Bologna process, Dr. Karmand Abdullah Hamad, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, focused on student-centered concepts.

Dr. Karzan Mohamed Khaled, Head of the Department of Geology, presided over the second panel. Dr. Sirwan Zand, SU President’s assistant for Scientific Affairs, participated in the session on the subject of scientific procedures for the next academic year, and Dr. Said Ibrahim Faqe on the procedure of reorganizing higher education affairs, and, Shamal Abdullah on procedures to reorganize the quality assurance work.

Members of the Board of all Departments, Faculties and University Centers participated in the meeting. A comprehensive discussion was held on higher education, the Bologna process, the procedures and reorganization of work and scientific activities for the new academic year with the aim of focusing on students and further developing the university.
