On the 14th April 2015, a workshop took place in Erbil, entitled ‘An Introduction to the Bologna Process, a Gateway for Kurdistan Universities to Approach European System.’ Dr Yousef Goran, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Affairs, and the presidents and vice presidents of all the Kurdistan universities were present. The workshop was held in association with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Affairs, and the CINECA organization, sponsored by SINATEL.

The first talk was given by Dr Yousef Goran, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Affairs. The Minister affirmed the significance of reforming administration and education systems with the help of modern technology in the Kurdistan Region. Italian General Consul, Carmelo Ficarra, also gave a talk confirming the willingness of the Italian Government to support the existing cooperation between Kurdistan universities and the Italian scientific and academic organizations to continue its success. Mr Rasheed Ameen, from SINATEL, then spoke about how Soran University has been a leading example in both Kurdistan and Iraq in the use of modern technology with the installation and  application of an  Electronic Campus System.

A seminar was presented by Dr Hawre Mansurbeg, a former Vice President for Scientific Affairs at Soran University and who currently teaches there. He described the banking and information systems at Soran University and discussed how to make these systems  modern and successful in other universities in Kurdistan.

All the workshop seminars were in agreement that Soran University was  the only successful model in Kurdistan.
