On the 22nd April 2015, a number of activities took place at Soran University's Faculty of Arts. The activities were concerned with the engineering and artistic works of the Kurdish engineer and writer Khasraw Jaff. The event was simultaneous with the 117th anniversary of the beginning of Kurdish journalism.
A number of key officials from Soran University were present, including Dr Rushdie Samad, Vice President of Soran University for Administrative Affairs, Dr Yadgar Rasul, Vice President of Soran University for Students' Affairs, Mr Krmanj Izzet, the Mayor of Soran, Mr Hakim Teli, President of Soran Municipality, Prof Dr Qais Kakl, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Dr Dara Jaff, former Dean of the College of Education and a large number of lecturers and students.
Mr Jaff was officially invited by both the Geography and the Kurdish departments of the Faculty of Arts. He exhibited his artistic work, opened a photo-gallery and presented a 30-minute video showing the various artistic and engineering perspectives of his project the 'Kurdistan Martyrs Monument.'
He gave a talk and thanked the audience for the warm welcome. He asserted that students have to be given special attention and that they are a very important part of society. Mr Jaff pointed out the problems of the Kurdish literati, especially regarding literature, art and translation. He also talked about the poverty of art in Kurdistan.
At the end of the event, the attendees expressed their views and suggestions and asked questions to which Mr Jaff gave answers.
