Mechanics I: Statics (PENG 205) The aim of this course is to teach students be able to solve basic problems in mechanics and to understand the underlying theory. The course covers exercises corresponding to the topics of the lecture to enhance the understanding of basic problems by special examples. 2. Module Description This course is provided to the engineering students with the basic skills in static and strength of materials. It provides a clear and thorough demonstration of the theory and application of engineering static and strength of materials. Among the main concepts that are covered in this course are vectors, equilibrium of a particle, equilibrium of a rigid body, trusses and frames, internal forces, centroids, and moment of inertia, concept of stress, stress and strain-axial loading and pure bending 3.
