The on-going assaults of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) on both Iraq and Kurdistan Region, its making of a security space in Iraq, the confrontation of Peshmerge forces, and the role of Kurdistan Region in this case have been the subject of news agencies, journalistic analysis and the academics of the world more than any time.

A seminar is due to take place on January 14 2015 by Plymouth University in the UK. Dr Till Passche, a lecturer from Geography Department of Faculty of Arts/Soran University is expected to present a seminar entitled "Transecting Security and Space in Kurdistan, Iraq."

Worth mentioning, Soran University academics have played a large role in analyzing situation in various perspectives.
