First Annual Diabetes Forum is Held at Soran University

 

A scientific forum was held at Soran University on World Diabetes Day. It was organized by the Biology Department of the Faculty of Science. Several experts and specialists discussed new developments and challenges in the fight against diabetes.

On Monday, November 14, 2022, a scientific forum was held on World Diabetes Day under the title "First Annual Diabetes Forum at Soran University." The Forum was attended by Dr. Rizgar Saeed President’s assistant for students’ affairs, Prof. Dr. Ayad Nuri, Dean of the Faculty of Science, and a large number of teachers, staff, and students of Soran University.

The Forum began with a speech by Dr. Ayad Nuri. Referring to the importance and risks of diabetes, he said: "In Science Faculty, we organized this forum due to the seriousness of this disease. Experts and specialists will talk about new developments and challenges to identify diabetes, "he said.

Then, Dr. Rezgar Saeed, said: "Every year, World Diabetes Day is celebrated under the specific slogan of that year, and various activities are held. And this year, 2022, the slogan for remembering this day is "Education to Protect Tomorrow." This year's slogan is part of this broad campaign announced for 2021-2023 (Access to Diabetes Care). In fact, this year's motto and the three-year campaign, place greater responsibility on educational institutions, and we at Soran University, take part of that responsibility, "he said.

A panel discussion moderated by Faizah Burhan Omar on diabetes and its complexities, was held during the forum. Dr. Sarbast Ahmed Bradusti, dr. Banaz Jalal Said Agha, dr. Soran Zerari, and dr. Sarkawt Hamadamin Hamad participated in that panel.

In another section of the forum, the academic staff of the Biology Department examined blood sugar for the first-stage students and attendees.

Finally, certificates of participation were distributed to the forum participants.
