On Wednesday, February 14, 2024, Soran University (SU) Rector, Sherwan Sharif Qurtas received British General Consul in Erbil James Goldman.

In a meeting, both sides discussed strengthening academic and scientific relations. The meeting also discussed the establishment of academic relations between Kurdistan universities and British universities.
Later, the Consul General met privately with SU students. He spoke about the Chevening program, a special program related to the one-year Master's scholarship in Britain. After successfully completing the academic year, the student will be awarded an accredited master’s degree, and shall return to their respective home countries to serve in their fields of expertise.
The meeting was also an opportunity to familiarize students with the Chevening Program, which is financially supported by the UK Foreign Office and its partner organizations.
